Whale Watching
Don’t forget your binoculars for some of the best theater in town as the Blue and Humpback whales frolic in the coastal waters and the Gray whale population migrates past the Big Sur coastline twice each year.

California State Parks is proud to present Ranger guided whale watching. Come celebrate with us the migration of the California gray whales off the Big Sur coast. Meet at the vista point on Highway 1 at mile marker 37, just north of Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. 10:00 AM - Noon, weather permitting.

Bird Watching
Bird watchers from all over the globe have come to Big Sur to witness feathery fowl of various types and take time to visit the Ventana Wildlife Society banding lab located at the entrance of Andrew Molera State Park.
