Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has an active program of guided hikes, a campfire program, Junior Rangers, and Ranger Cubs programs through the summer months. You'll find a variety of activities suitable for the whole family. If you happen to be coming from another local campground or lodging facility, entrance to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park for the Campfire Program is FREE! When entering the park, tell the Ranger at the kiosk that you're there for the Campfire Program. Park day use fees apply for Nature Walks and daytime activities.

NOTE: THE CAMPFIRE PROGRAM HAS ENDED FOR THE SEASON. IT WILL RESUME NEXT SUMMER. We're leaving this information online so that you can see what kind of programs will be available.
Saturday August 25th
8:00 p.m. Campfire Program: "Creatures of the Night"
Join Park Interpreter Sara for a glimpse into the nocturnal life of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. If we are lucky, we may even hear some of these magnificent creatures talk back to us. Meet at the campfire center.
Sunday, August 26th
*10:00 a.m. “A Waterfall with a nice view” Join Sara for a moderate two mile hike through the redwoods to Pfeiffer Falls and on through to the valley view. This will be a one and a half to two hour hike, looping around and ending at the view point. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Meet at the Nature Center.

*2:00 p.m. "River Walk, Dam Busting" Meet Sara at the campfire center for a peek into the secret life in the Big Sur River. We will discover steelhead rainbow trout and find out how you can help these threatened fish in their natural habitat. Wear your river shoes for this one-hour program.
Monday, August 27th
*7:00 p.m. "Moonlit Lighthouse Tour" This walk will lead you on a leisurely half-mile ascent to the lighthouse, where you will have plenty of time to climb and explore the tower. If you're lucky, you might spot some Big Sur wildlife along the way! On this special full-moon tour, you will hear about the ghosts of lighthouse keepers past! Tour groups meet in the parking lot at the base of Point Sur's giant Moro rock formation, limit 40 people, no reservations.
Prices Adults: $8.00 Ages 6-17: $4.00 Ages 5 and Under Free

* 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. "Morning with the Songbirds" Join Ventana Wildlife Society's Big Sur Ornithology Lab and observe a bird banding demonstration, accompany staff on a visit to nets to remove birds. Park vehicles in the Andrew Molera State Park parking lot and walk back out past the kiosk and turn right down the gravel road 150 yards to the brown barn. *10:00 a.m. JUNIOR RANGERS- WATER (Ages 7-12)
Come meet park interpreter Sara for an hour of fun with aquatic life! Take a peek into the underwater world of the Big Sur River and discover why it is so important. Meet at the Campfire Center.
*11:30 a.m. Ranger Cubs (Ages 6 and under with parents)
Come meet at the Campfire Center for a half hour of fun, storytelling, activities and art!
6:00 p.m. Labor Day Weekend “Talent Show!" Do you have a hidden talent? Come show it off at the campfire center! Tell a story, perform a skit, sing, dance or tell a joke. ALL AGES WELCOME, Must be family friendly. CD player and iPod hookup available. Sign-up at the campground kiosk.
Sunday, September 2nd
* 2:00 p.m. Nature Walk: “The River Runs Through Big Sur” Explore the natural and cultural history of the Big Sur River. Visit the Homestead cabin and look for threatened Steelhead Rainbow Trout. Wear your river shoes as we may get wet! Meet Park Interpreter Sara Day Use Lot #3 (at the end of the picnic road, near green Fire Road gate).

8:00 p.m. Campfire Program: “Tale of a Whale” Have you ever seen these giants visit the central coast? Meet Park Interpreter Sara and have some fun discovering the largest animals on earth. Be prepared to get involved in this one-hour program at the campfire center.
Monday, September 3rd
*9:00 a.m. “A Glimpse into Big Sur” Join Sara for a walk to Pfeiffer Falls. Many of the forces that have shaped Big Sur are evident in this one hour hike, from fire ecology to human influence. Meet at the Nature Center
*11:00 a.m. Children’s Nature Walk: “Flower Power-The plants of Big Sur” Join park naturalist Sara for an hour of fun and games and a little walking. Discover many of the plants of Big Sur and how they grow. This trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible. All ages welcome, meet at the Campfire Center

Molera Ranch House Museum - Located at Andrew Molera State Park, the Ranch House is open for visitors Thursday thru Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Ernst Ewoldsen Nature Center - Located near the Pfeiffer Falls trailhead is open for visitors Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come discover what lives here!
Point Sur Lightstation State Historic Park Tours- “Walking Tour into the Past” Volunteer led, three-hour walking tour on paved road. The walk is less than a mile but with a rise in elevation of 300’. Meet along the West Side of Highway 1, 1/4 mile north of Pt. Sur Naval facility. Arrive early. Tour size limited. Point Sur Lightstation
Tour Times- Saturday: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., Sunday: 10 a.m. and Wednesday: 10 a.m., 2 p.m. Admission: Adult:$8.00; Ages 6-17: $4.00; Age 5 and under: free.
