Yes. Room Blocks are a courtesy we do for a bride and groom who are having an event with us such as a reception, rehearsal dinner, or day after brunch so that all your needs are met and your guests can stay at the Big Sur Lodge during your celebration.
Possibly. If your event is scheduled for a weekend other than a major holiday and if you are having dining events with us, there is a possibility that a buyout might be considered. Please feel free to call our Event Coordinator at 831-667-3100, ext. 15 with more details about your wedding.
When it comes to venues, we have several wonderful choices for you. The lovely Santa Lucia Room accommodates a maximum of 120 guests if the outdoor patio is included. The Santa Lucia Room is located near our swimming pool, a photograph of which is shown here.
We also offer the beautiful restaurant and/or restaurant patio/deck setting that has views of the majestic redwoods and which can accommodate a maximum capacity of 60 to 70 depending if you are indoors or outdoors or utilizing both venues. Each of these locations has a site fee.
Absolutely. We typically design individual menus for your event. For example, we can design individual banquet menus to your cuisine preferences and budget needs. Please see our Full Cuisine Offerings on our website or ask our Event Coordinator for Sample Wedding Menus. We have done rehearsal dinners, receptions, and day after brunches. We can do a Bridal Shower, too.
Certainly. Big Sur Lodge can help you design a wedding to fit your budget. Please feel free to let our Event Coordinator know your budget at the outset so she can tailor information to your needs.
In general, for your planning purposes, dinner banquet menus range in price from $36 per person to $90 plus per person and go up from there excluding alcoholic beverages. Breakfast or lunch banquet menus can begin at $28 per person and go up from there. In terms of alcohol, we have a wine list and beer offerings.
No. You should plan to add an 18% service gratuity and 7.5% sales tax on food and beverage. Taxes and prices are subject to change.
Big Sur Lodge serves beer and wine, and a bartender can be arranged to serve beer and wine to your guests.
We recommend that you make your menu selections at the outset of your planning process so you can have the basic framework for your dining event in place and you can then relax thinking about your special day ahead.
In general, the length of your wedding event is your choice, but rehearsal dinners typically last two or three hours, wedding receptions are often four hours, and day after brunches are two hours.
Check in starts at 4 pm. If you have a party planned at an earlier hour, we recommend that your guests book a room the night before so that they will have ample time to prepare for the event.
At Big Sur Lodge, couples get married in our Santa Lucia Room or on the lawn area near our swimming pool. The Park also has a beautiful new amphitheater aka Campfire Center for wedding ceremonies. It is located just one block down a tree-lined path from our restaurant and outdoor patio. The amphitheater is surrounded by redwood trees and oak trees.
In Pfeiffer State Park, with the Park’s input and permission, couples get married near the river, on overlooks, and in the picnic area. Some choose a beach. You would want to contact the Special Events Coordinator for California State Parks, Big Sur Sector at 831-667-0507 for more information about where you can marry in the Park.
Yes. An informal, barbeque and picnic-style rehearsal dinner catered by Big Sur Lodge can be held in one of the picturesque Pfeiffer State Park’s picnic venues. There is a site fee and application process with the State Park to reserve your selected location. Our Event Coordinator can show you these locations in person if you like.

Our Event Coordinator can recommend providers with expertise in each of these areas of service and who will deliver and/or service Big Sur for your event.
Of course, and we would recommend that you coordinate your ideas with the Big Sur Lodge who will cater your event. If you need additional assistance with your decorating, our Event Coordinator can give you names of providers such as florists, or the Lodge can assist with your decorating for an additional fee.
The Big Sur Lodge does not charge a wedding cake cutting fee. Wedding cake cutting is included with your dining event.
